C6 envelope template on an A4 sheet: PDF and SVG to print

Published 22.12.2012 · Updated 07.11.2026

You need to send a letter, and there is no envelope at hand. This template prints on an ordinary A4 sheet, with the address already on it; you cut it out and glue it. It takes five minutes. On coloured paper and with your own drawing, it also makes a nice envelope for a greeting card.

The finished envelope is C6, 114 × 162 mm. It takes an A4 sheet folded in four, or an A6 card.

The template: solid line to cut, dashed lines to fold. The front has "From" and "To" fields, postcodes and a stamp box.

Files to print

The SVG opens in the free Inkscape editor: click above a line with the Text tool, type the address and print. LibreOffice Draw works too. All files have exact dimensions in millimetres.

How to print

  • Scale 100 %, "actual size". Do not turn on "fit to page": the envelope would come out smaller, and a folded A4 sheet would not fit.
  • Check with a ruler: the front (the rectangle outlined by dashes) must be 162 mm wide.
  • The outline is 9 mm from the sheet edges, so the printer will not cut anything off.
  • Paper: ordinary 80 g/m² works; 100–120 g/m² makes a sturdier envelope.

How to glue it

  1. Cut along the solid line.
  2. Fold all four flaps along the dashed lines away from you, printed side out. This way the address is on the front and the template lines end up inside.
  3. Fold in the side flaps.
  4. Put glue on the side flaps on the side that stayed outside, and press the large bottom flap onto them.
  5. Put the letter in. An A4 sheet folded in half twice is 105 × 148 mm and slides in easily.
  6. Seal the top flap with a glue stick or double-sided tape.

The address goes as on a normal envelope: sender top left, recipient bottom right, always with the postcode.
